Spring Forest Qigong
Spring Forest Qigong was developed by Chunyi Lin. He had studied with masters to learn and use Qigong, but felt it should be something that everyone could do easily, therefore providing a means for healing themselves and others.
Qigong is not mysterious, although it may seem that it is; it is a wonderful gift that is available to everyone. Hearing music coming out of a radio might seem mysterious because you cannot see the radio waves, or touch them, but nevertheless they are real. You don’t even have to believe the radio will work – all you do is turn it on and you hear music so know it works. Once you hear it working, there is no mystery at all. The same is true with Qigong.
Sleeping is a natural meditation, something we need to balance the energy of our bodies. – that’s why we need sleep. Qigong is all about energy balance. Physical activity is the Yang part of our everyday life; sleep is the Yin part of everyday life. You must have Yin and Yang for good balance. Practicing Qigong can help you sleep better plus feel energized, relaxed and balanced.
Qigong comes from two words. Qi is the universal energy that makes up and flows through everything in the universe. In our bodies, Qi means life force. Gong means to practice and cultivate. Together Qigong simply means to cultivate one’s vitality through practice.
Qi energy has two forms – Yin and Yang – and both must be in perfect balance for perfect health. Your body has two kinds of Qi – internal and external. Moving the Qi is very important in Chinese healing. Qigong is one of the most powerful ways to move the Qi. It’s all about balance.
Everything in the universe is energy, or Qi. A rock, a tree, the air, your body, your mind, are all energy in different forms. Energy can be transformed, and using Qigong can transform your life in every way imaginable. Qigong combines meditation, focused concentration, breathing techniques and body movements to activate and cultivate the Qi as it flows through the invisible energy channels, the meridians, of the body. Qi can flow with the nervous system, circulation system and the meridian system, or flow on its own without following any systems found in your body.
The goal of Qigong is to enhance the quality of your life by teaching you ways to open your energy channels and maintain balance. Spring Forest Qigong is simple, and such it must be for people to follow through and commit to practicing it.
Slow, deep, relaxed breathing like the sea turtle is very healthy. It increases the intake of oxygen and greatly enhances the metabolism of oxygen in the tissues of your body, particularly the muscles. This gives you more endurance, makes you more mentally alert, and enhances creativity. As you breathe in, imagine using your entire body to breathe and see and feel the healing light and energy collecting in your lower Dantien, which is just behind your navel in the center of your torso. As you breathe out, visualize any pain, sickness, fatigue, or discomfort anywhere in your body changing into smoke and shooting out of your body to the end of the universe. This visualization and focus greatly enhances the effectiveness of your Qigong breathing.
Adding the movements in the three basic exercises can restore your health over time. You also can help others heal by using particular movements and energy flow focused on them. It truly has immeasurable value if you want to heal completely so that you experience vibrant health.
